THIS MOMENT, THIS POSITION We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Indigenous Business Consultant to join our team in Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will work closely with Indigenous entrepreneurs, providing them with the necessary tools, guidance, and support to launch and grow their businesses. This role involves delivering end-to-end services to ensure our clients’ business success: assessing client needs, developing scopes of work, and executing projects. HOW WOULD YOU CONTRIBUTE? Needs Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of client needs to develop tailored scopes of work. Scope Development: Create detailed scopes of work based on client needs, designed to ensure business success. Service Delivery: For New Startups: Idea validation workshops, business planning, and funding advising. For Existing Businesses: Growth and expansion strategies, business coaching/mentorship, and the 4-week Business Fix program to enhance operational efficiency and profitability. Project Management: Oversee projects not directly delivered by Indigrow, ensuring they meet client needs (e.g., legal services, marketing services, business acquisitions). Funding Assistance: Guide clients through the process of securing funding, including grants, loans, and other financial resources available to Indigenous entrepreneurs. Ongoing Support: Provide continuous support and mentorship to clients, helping them overcome challenges and achieve long-term business success. Workshops and Training: Develop and deliver workshops and training sessions on various aspects of business startup, including business planning, funding, marketing, and legal frameworks. Business Development and Networking: Build and maintain relationships with key interest holders, including Indigenous communities, financial institutions, and government agencies. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate is an adept individual with at least five years of experience in business consulting, entrepreneurship, or a similar field, and holds a degree in Business Administration or a related area. The candidate has demonstrated the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals, and is passionate about helping Indigenous businesses succeed by providing ongoing support, and building strong relationships with shareholders. WHAT YOU BRING * Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or a related field. MBA or equivalent experience is a plus. Equivalent courses, certificates or work experience will be considered. * Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in business consulting, entrepreneurship, or a related field. Experience working with Indigenous communities is highly preferred. * Skills: Exceptional Business Acumen: Deep understanding of business startup processes, along with knowledge of methodologies and tools to enhance business success. Facilitation Skills: Outstanding presentation, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with diverse groups. * Knowledge: Familiarity with funding sources and financial assistance programs available to Indigenous entrepreneurs. * Attributes: Passionate about supporting Indigenous business development, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
